Rob Sim Honored at 2011 CSC Awards

On the evening of April 2nd, 2011, Rob Sim was presented with the prestigious Bill Hilson Award during the Canadian Society of Cinematographers Awards Gala. The award, which is presented annually for outstanding service in the development of the motion picture industry, has Rob joining the good company of past recipients including Evertz Microsystems (2010), Roger Racine (2008), Ivan Putora (2003), Wescam (2002), Doug Dales (2000) and Bill White (1994).
Before inviting Rob to the stage to accept his award, Dylan Macleod, CSC (above) gave a wonderful introduction peppered with humorous tales of Rob’s early years and pinnacle career achievements that lead him to merit this esteemed industry acknowledgement. Dylan’s speech focused on Rob’s commitment to help fuel the advancement and availability of digital cinema camera and post technologies here in Canada, where Sim Video has built an incredible reputation for delivering the latest tools and expert support in the process.
With his family by his side and surrounded by a room full of peers, clients and long-time friends, Rob was elated by the CSC’s recognition of his years of service to the industry. Rob graciously accepted his award including that he’d like to “share this award with his staff, whose hard work and dedication has driven the company’s success.”
To tie it all up, Rob ended his speech with some very heart-felt words for the audience: “When I look around this room, I see more than colleagues and clients, I see friends, old and new. I see the artists who have trusted and allowed me to help them with some of their most pivotal projects. It has been an honor to work with so many of you and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching your artistry and talent grow over the years. I couldn’t be prouder than to be a part of this community. Thank you.”
